The Man Who Jumped In
Carnival Jubilee passenger Myron Tucker jumped into the water at Costa Maya on May 19 to save an 84-year-old who fell face-down from the pier. Man survived and finished his cruise.
The 84-year-old was face-down, close to drowning, when Myron entered the water.
Wife Amy's TikTok video has been viewed millions of times. "He grabbed hold of the elderly man, lifted him onto his shoulder, and cradled him safely until assistance arrived." Carnival confirmed the guest was treated onboard.
Carnival gave Myron pins, a steak dinner, and a letter.
Earlier last month on May 9, an elderly woman died after her mobility scooter went off a pier at Celebration Key.
📌 Worth knowing: Stay close to elderly travel companions on pier walkways, especially near the water's edge.
🧭 TRAVEL HACK
NOTICE
Pack for the Blackout
Caribbean Princess losing power twice: a battery fan and power bank make a hot, dark hour manageable.
Two carry-on items to add before every cruise:
Battery fan because staterooms heat up fast when AC goes out in the Caribbean.
Charged power bank because outlets go offline during outages; keep your phone ready.
🚨 Action step: Add both to your carry-on list, especially on older ships like the 23-year-old Caribbean Princess.
